About this coin; The coin offered is a beautiful fresh coin that still has quite a bit of reflectivity and really look like a coin of a much higher grade. i am sure you will LOVE this example and make it a key coin in your Lib Nickel set1886 Liberty Head Nickel Mintage    The 1886 Liberty Head Nickel had a mintage of 3,326,000 business strikes from the Philadelphia Mint, along with 1,451 proof coins. This places it among one of the scarecest dates in the series.         Rarity In circulated grades (e.g., Good to Very Fine), the 1886 is considered uncommon and not widely available. However, in Mint State (MS60 and higher), it is scarce due to natural wear over time. Proof examples are rare in high grades, with gem proofs being particularly elusive for collectors.     Price HistoryAs of this date PCGS has only graded 118 examples of the 1886 Liberty Nickel in AU-58. Collectors Universe shows a Retail Value of $1250        Brief History of the Liberty Head Nickel The Liberty Head Nickel, also known as the "V-Nickel," was designed by Chief Engraver Charles E. Barber and introduced in 1883 to replace the Shield Nickel. The obverse features Liberty's profile facing left, encircled by "LIBERTY" and the date, while the reverse displays a large Roman numeral "V" for five cents, surrounded by "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM," with stars above. Minted from 1883 to 1913 at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints, the series bridged the gap between earlier designs and the iconic Buffalo Nickel. Early issues (1883–1885) infamously lacked "CENTS," leading to fraudulent gold-plating scams. The 1886 date saw production primarily at Philadelphia. The type is beloved by collectors for its elegant design and historical significance in U.S. coinage evolution. What is PCGS?
